The tabletop isn’t the only place you can take your Grey Knights for a nice stroll punctuated by violent daemonic expurgation. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a Warhammer video game in which you command a handful of Knights of Titan in an attempt to purge a sector-spanning daemonic plague known as the Bloom.
This supremely tactical game from Complex Games features the legendary Andy Serkis as Grand Master Vardan Kai, and tasks players with controlling and upgrading a coterie of Grey Knights as they battle against a Nurgle incursion. There’s already been one DLC, which introduced a mighty Castraferrum Dreadnought to the roster, and now a second upcoming DLC allows players to recruit the unnaturally skilled agents of the Officio Assassinorum in the war against Chaos.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – Execution Force introduces the Tentarus Hive, a new threat spreading through the Tyrtaeus sector. Not only will you need to eliminate these infections to prevent the corruption level from covering the planets, you’ll be tasked with boarding enemy cruisers and gunning for the generators in vicious close-quarters boarding actions to stymie the spread.
As the threat level rises, Strike Force Xiphos will need to requisition the Officio Assassinorum in order to deploy highly skilled assassins. The Vindicare and Eversor Assassins provide precision long-range fire support and relentless fury respectively. The Callidus Assassin can use her array of shapeshifting tools to infiltrate behind enemy lines, while the Culexus Assassin wreaks havoc on enemy psykers.
Alongside this DLC, a free update will also embolden the forces of Nurgle by adding the Tainted Sons to the mix. This new enemy patrol troop introduces the Plague Surgeon – proof of medical licence pending – gleefully gibbering gangs of Nurglings, and the Beast of Nurgle, a rambunctious, if slimy, living battering ram. Commanders will also have new Warp Surge threats and mission types to encounter, and will receive new wargear support from the Adeptus Mechanicus.
This free update and the paid Execution Force DLC is due to teleport shunt onto the Steam and Epic Game Store on the 25th of July. The new content will commence with a mysterious communiqué from the Officio Assassinorum, which you’ll get just after Vardan Kai’s first report
