The launch box for the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar is now available to pre-order – and if you act quick-fast you might still be able to secure your own copy of Skaventide. If it’s already sold out online in your region, don’t panic – more copies will be available on release day at Warhammer stores and other gaming retailers. The fun doesn’t stop there – from next Saturday, you’ll be able to grab all the extra books and cards you might need.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Core Book
This 288-page hardback book is your ultimate companion to the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. It is a treasure trove of background information, presented through a variety of lenses, including boots-on-the-ground explanations from several point-of-view characters. It’s the best introduction to the Mortal Realms yet.
It contains an awe-inspiring gatefold cosmology of the eight realms, many pages of gorgeous art and miniatures photography and summaries of every faction. The Core Book also includes the Core Rules, the Advanced Rules, Battlepack: First Blood for Matched Play, complete with three battleplans, and the narrative Battlepack: Ascension for Path to Glory. This includes four upgrade paths for your heroes, two for your units, and six battleplans.
You can also get all that same great stuff inside a snazzy, numbered limited edition which arrives in an illustrated slipcase. There is only a limited quantity of these, and there will be no reprints.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: General’s Handbook 2024-25
Jump into the world of Matched Play and start getting those reps in for events and tournaments with the first General’s Handbook of the new edition. This 112-page spiral-bound book contains everything you need to play balanced, competitive games using the rules from the first season, which lasts a year.
Inside you’ll find the Core and Advanced Rules, as well as the Season Rules – which are themed on powerful boons for your general’s honour guard. There are also 12 battleplans, representing a “greatest hits” list from previous editions, a rules update for all of the universal Endless Spells, and a Tournament Organisers’ pack that provides advice for those who want to run events.
Spearhead: Fire and Jade Gaming Pack
Spearhead is the new game mode for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, bringing lightning-fast games rich in tactical depth. This neat box contains everything you need to start playing games of Spearhead with your own collections. You get a sprue with four pieces of terrain and snap-together 3” and 6” range rulers, a double-sided game board with printed objectives covering Aqshy on one side and Ghyran on the other, as well as a Twist Deck for each side, and two identical Battle Tactic decks for each player.
The Battlepack for Spearhead will be available for free, and every faction’s Spearhead rules will be available in their Faction Packs, both in physical and digital editions.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Faction Packs
Get all the rules you need for your faction in one convenient place. Each Faction Pack will be available to purchase as a pack of cards. Each pack contains a background summary, cards with your armies’ Battle Traits, Battle Formations, Heroic Traits, Artefacts of Power, Spell Lores, Prayer Lores, and Manifestation Lores. Also included are cards for games of Spearhead, with Battle Traits, Regiment Traits, Enhancements, and warscroll cards.
Note that the Orruk Warclans Faction Pack set contains rules for both the Ironjawz and Kruleboyz in one pack, and that there is currently no Spearhead for the Ironjawz.
Free digital editions of these Faction Packs will be available to download for free soon, before the new edition appears in stores.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Grand Alliance Dice
Refresh your dice stocks ahead of the new edition with four Grand Alliance dice sets. Each contains 16 themed dice for Order, Death, Destruction, and Chaos, with an appropriate icon on the six face.
White Dwarf Issue 502
The July issue of White Dwarf is on its way, with a feast of information on the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar including behind the scenes interviews, painting and modelling advice, and the first printed battle report of the new edition. There are also new Warhammer 40,000 features including a summary of the Xenowar in Warzone Chalnath, a commentary on the Pariah Nexus Chapter Approved Mission Pack, and a set of Crusade rules for the new setting.
Morvenn Vahl: Spear of Faith (Mega Limited Edition)
Under the command of the warlord Kol Rakhul, Death of Saints, the Night Lords have attacked Ophelia VII and ransacked its Great Libraries. Only Morvenn Vahl, Abbess Sanctorum and High Lord of Terra, and her fearless Adepta Sororitas sisters stand in their way. Jude Ried’s Morvenn Vahl: Spear of Faith will be available to pre-order next week in a resplendent Mega Limited Edition.
This opulent volume features a velvet effect cloth cover with an embroidered pattern, gold foil details, and a red ribbon marker. Each copy is individually numbered and features an exclusive afterword from the author. It includes a set of six gorgeous art prints of Imperial Saints, and The Book of Saints itself, a tome penned by a sister of the Order of the Quill immortalising Imperial saints such as Saint Celestine, Ephrael Stern, Sebastian Thor, Saint Sabbat, Gerstahl, and more. Copies of this collection are strictly limited.
The Daughters of the Emperor
Our next week-long eShort subscription is a real barnstormer, featuring five stories about everyone’s favourite fanatical torchbearers – the Adepta Soroitas. Each day you’ll be able to pick up a new story penned by one of five outstanding authors – Jude Reid, John Sollitto, Kate Flack, Nicholas Werner, and Ness Brown – or you can get the entire bundle for the price of four by subscribing on day one.
The first even features Celestian Sacresant Aveline, star of the upcoming novel Daemonbreaker, as she fights through a deadly corrupted factorum with a malign daemon engine squarely in her sights. Others find a Sister of the Order of the Bloody Rose struggling as her own hatred for the archenemy overtakes her, another with her faith shaken when her superior is brutally martyred despite her piety, and more.
This week on Warhammer+, Loremasters continues its journey through the Mortal Realms with a leisurely stroll through Shyish and Chamon – the realms of Death and Metal. Both are chilling and inhospitable places for the average traveller in the Age of Sigmar, and it pays to know your gravesand from your chamonite.
And will you look at that, Citadel Colour Masterclass is also cracking out its metallic know-how with a guide to painting distressed wood and metal materials – perfect for the horde of Skaven you’ll no doubt be building when the Skaventide boxed set arrives.
