The standard of entries to Golden Demon is always impeccable. Entrants pour hundreds of hours into miniature works of art, and though only a handful can ultimately win trophies, many other beautiful pieces grab the judges’ attention.
These entries are marked for special commendation to show the immense skill and effort that went into their creation – so much so that they were in contention to place. To make sure they get the proper attention, we will unveil every single commended entry from Golden Demon at SPIEL in Essen. Today’s showcase deals with winners from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar categories.
Warhammer 40,000: Single Miniature
The Warhammer 40,000 single miniature category is usually the most hotly contested. This year was no exception.
Warhammer 40,000: Unit or Kill Team
This category challenges entrants to paint a cohesive unit of miniatures rather than just one.
Warhammer 40,000: Large Miniature or Vehicle
Monsters, daemons, constructs and tanks all compete in this category, providing larger canvases.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Single Miniature
Warhammer Age of Sigmar single miniature is always a close-fought category, with people going above and beyond on just one single miniature.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Unit or Warcry Warband
The armies of the Mortal Realms are vast and varied, and this category allows painters to grab their favourite unit and paint to the highest possible quality.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Large Miniature or War Machine
The winner of the Slayer Sword for Golden Demon at SPIEL in Essen was from this category, which provides a home for all the towering terrors, humongous horrors, and ratling warmachines of the Mortal Realms.
Warhammer Underworlds
Warhammer Underworlds warbands are packed with character, making them ideal self-contained projects for competition painters.
