It’s a killer time for fans of classic Warhammer. New updates to the two hottest video games set within the Old World are set to revitalise your adventures from the gloomy streets of the Empire to the highest peaks of the Chaos-infested northlands. We’re kicking off with the blistering announcement trailer for a new Total War: Warhammer III DLC, then looking closer at the latest update to Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
Total War: Warhammer III
The fires of war are spreading from the jungles of Lustria to the Grand Bastion of Cathay, and promises of bloodshed and ill-gotten gains have awoken three brutal warlords in Omens of Destruction – the next DLC pack for Total War: Warhammer III.
Skulltaker – Khorne’s favourite Bloodletter – is on a mission to reap the finest trophies for his master’s Skull Throne, with a particular eye for a pantheon of powerful heroes spread across the Warhammer world. Meanwhile, Gorbad Ironclaw musters a mighty host of Orcs & Goblins to show the world how invasions are done, mixing classic Orcish brawn with surprisingly sharp brains to formulate complex and effective battle plans (for an Orc).
While the Orcs & Goblins bicker amongst each other, Golgfag Maneater is busy selling his violent services to whoever will pay the most. This monstrous Ogre, who almost single-handedly started the gold rush for Ogre mercenaries with tales of his legendary exploits, is happy to get involved in globe-trotting wars for the promise of great rewards after his lads smash yet another roving army.
Each Legendary Lord comes alongside a variety of new units, from Khornate Slaughterbrutes and Ogre Yhetees to Bolt Throwas and the terrifying Colossal Squig. The accompanying Patch 6.0 will also add a new free Legendary Lord for all players – the champion of Khorne, Arbaal the Undefeated – and feature faction updates for the Ogre Kingdoms, Khorne, and Orcs & Goblins.
Total War: Warhammer III - Omens of Destruction is due to release on the 12th of December on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Windows Store.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2
If you’ve been looking for a reason to return to Helmgart, now is the time. The new Versus update for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is out now on Steam, challenging players with a brand new asymmetric gameplay experience, where teams of up to four go head-to-head as the heroic Ubersreik Five, or one of the villainous Pactsworn Skaven.
As in the regular campaign, the five heroes each have multiple specialised subclasses that customise their skills and weapons, while the Skaven team have five of their own unique classes with a diverse range of abilities. Each map is a reimagining of a classic location from Vermintide 2, modified for intense 4v4 PvP action, while players can earn progress along a brand new progression system containing challenges and rewards designed specifically for Versus.
Talisman: Digital 5th Edition
Speaking of big updates that have recently landed, the digital version of the new edition of Talisman is also available right now. Talisman: Digital 5th Edition uses the rules from this year’s update to the classic adventure board game, connecting you to players around the world as you fight monsters, upgrade your gear, and steal the exact item your friend needed right as they were about to use it.*
You can pick up your copy now from Steam, and that’s not all – if you’re still sitting in the tavern wondering if an adventure through Talisman is right for you (Spoiler alert: it is), the previous Digital Edition is now available to download for free from Steam, GOG, the Google Play Store and the App Store, rechristened as Talisman: Classic Edition.
