Warhammer 40,000 Metawatch – Reading the Omens of the Arks (of Omen)

It has now been more than a month since the latest season of Warhammer 40,000 began, which is enough time to draw a picture of how the Arks of Omen series has shaken up matched play. Once again, Studio Lead Stu is here to tell us what the picture is like.

Event attendance is up around the globe – we handled 50% more games in data this February compared with last February, with a similar boost in player numbers. This gives us a clearer and more comprehensive picture of balance, and the good news is that more factions are in that Goldilocks Zone with a win rate of between 45% and 55%. There’s plenty of diversity in event winners too, but Dark Angels and Genestealer Cults are definitely leading the pack.

On the other hand, the Thousand Sons and Deathwatch are languishing at the bottom. That’ll change come April, when the next Balance Dataslate is published (shortly after AdeptiCon). We’ll have more from AdeptiCon – which hosts one of the biggest Warhammer 40,000 tournaments in the world – in a future edition of Metawatch.
