After a slew of festive announcements including two battleboxes, one featuring aelves from space, and the other aelves from the sea, 2021 is drawing to a close.
While it's been a packed year for miniature releases, one colour has stood out – green.
It’s the colour of Orks, orruks, goblins, and grots – and greenskins have had a wonderful year both in Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
They're so pleased with themselves that they've besieged Warhammer Community Towers and even now are banging on the gates and demanding we shower them in shiny trophies.
Which means that, under no sort of duress from a big brute with a choppa,* we've decided to commemorate some of our favourite greenskin models released in 2021.
'Ardest Of 'Em All
Happiest when leading the charge with a teeming mass of Beastsnaggaz, the Beastboss is a surly lump of muscle and bionics that we can't help but respect.
Flashest Critter
Known as the Mouth of Mork, Gobsprakk's word is indisputable. Taking a break from his main passion – making enemy wizards' heads explode – he’s here to collect the award for best mount.
A Proppa Classic
Ork Boyz are known and loved throughout the world.** Loveable green thugs, this rework of a classic kit is the perfect reinforcement to your Ork hordes.
Da Weirdest War-dakka Eva!
Defying the laws of engineering, taste, and physics itself, the Kill Rig just seems to work despite itself. Pulled by a tramplasquig, this outrageous contraption will bring a tear of pride even to the eye of the toughest Ork.
Da "It Ain’t Propa, But It Works" Award
Crawling out of bogs of the Mortal Realms, the Kruleboyz are unusually devious for orruks, but their kunnin' is matched by the sadism of the Man-skewer Boltboyz.
Most Dedicated Choppa
The Kommandos from Kill Team Octarius specialise in close combat and the kind of warfare that requires the kind of big finkin' that’s beyond most Orks, including the art of secreting a third choppa in their gobs.
Bestest Red Git
The bionic meddling of the Beastsnaggaz doesn't stop at Orks. Even their squigs are modified with wheels and rockets – the perfect delivery method for explosives.
Rinklefinga'z Award for Da Most Distingwished Grot
Where orruks roam, grots are never far behind.*** Pot Grot is quite the celebrity among grotkind, mixing up vile brews and heinous venoms for his Swampcalla Shaman master.
If you want to reinforce your Ork army for Warhammer 40,000, everything in Combat Patrol: Orks will be available for pre-order this weekend.
Ork fans of a certain vintage will meanwhile be pleased to discover that the old Ork Boyz kit is staying on sale, so you can mix and match to muster the best mob of lads this side of Ullanor.
* No bovva from us, 'onest! just messin' wiv da ladz.
** In our world at least. In Warhammer 40,000 they're rightly feared.
*** Often they're in front, having been booted forward by their pugnacious Orruk bosses.
