The galaxy is in turmoil, and the Chaos Space Marines once again slip from their fetters and rampage across the Imperium. With so many warbands reaving and pillaging since the opening of the Great Rift, a new coterie of powerful Chaos Lords have risen up to seize power – in two new kits.
The new Chaos Lord cuts an imposing figure, with loads of trophies and accoutrements befitting a barbaric war leader, from a leering stomach plate to the customary rack of skulls on the backpack.
The kit is full of weapon options – choose from a chainaxe, an accursed maul, or a daemon hammer in his right hand, and a plasma pistol or power fist in his left. There’s also a choice of horned helmet or bare head – and we’re not sure which is more intimidating…
While some Lords are perfectly comfortable taking to the field on foot, others prefer to scream across the sky and get stuck in as fast as possible. A jump pack is the perfect tool for catapulting yourself to glory and godly favour, so why not strap one on and unleash hell from the skies?
The Chaos Lord with Jump Pack is caught in a dynamic pose, right as he’s crashing down into – or jumping off from – his unfortunate prey. A power axe or fist can be paired with a plasma or bolt pistol, giving the Lord a balanced combo loadout perfect for all kinds of foes. Night Lords fans will be glad to know that the classic pair of lightning claws is also returning to shred as much as possible in close combat.
There’s also a whole new Codex: Chaos Space Marines coming, packed with new rules, Detachments, and Crusade content to sink your teeth into. It’s one of the largest codexes so far, with eight Detachments that capture the fighting styles of classic Traitor Legions, as well as other renegade forces like piratical raiders and devotees of Vashtorr the Arkifane.
To celebrate the new Lords stepping into the limelight, there’s got to be a big boxed set in the works, and as usual the Chaos Space Marines deliver something terrifying, spiky, and effective.
The Veterans of the Long War battleforce is the perfect core to a Chaos Space Marines army, with the new Chaos Lord on foot leading a hand-picked bodyguard of five Chosen. The box also includes 10 Legionaries, 10 Chaos Terminators, and five Possessed.
But wait, where’s the other new Chaos Lord? He needed some allies to join him in an airborne assault, so he’s got a whole separate army box coming in to land.
The Dread Talons battleforce is focused on one thing – smashing your enemy’s lines in a big, screaming mass of jump pack troops. The new Chaos Lord with Jump Pack leads a wing of 10 Raptors to spearhead the assault alongside a terrifying Daemon Prince, while 10 Cultists, a unit of Accursed Cultists, and a Dark Commune hold down the fort for their profane masters.
There’s still loads more to see from today’s Preview Show, so head back to the hub and check out everything you might have missed so far.
