Eight magnificent Regiments of Renown were released for Warhammer Age of Sigmar this month, bringing new ways to mix troops from different factions. These are available to download for free, here.
We’ve already discussed the Order and Chaos Regiments of Renown with the Age of Sigmar team in more depth, and today it’s time to cover the Death and Destruction rules – which means hungry ghouls and one very drunk gargant.
Enforcers of the Tithe
The Ossiarch Bonereapers are here to collect their regular order of bones, one way or another, with the Enforcers of the Tithe. In battle, they make use of the bones of 'friends' and enemies alike to Rebuild on the March – grim stuff, but you’ll hear few complaints from their allies.
Rebuild on the March
Your Movement Phase
Ossiarch war-constructs can fashion new warriors at a fearsome rate if bone is in ample supply.
Declare: Pick the Gothizzar Harvester in this Regiment of Renown to use this ability if it has 6 bone-tithe points. Then, pick another unit in this Regiment of Renown that has been destroyed to be the target.
Effect: Reset the Gothizzar Harvester’s bone-tithe points to 0. Then, set up a replacement of the target unit with half the number of models (rounding up) wholly within 9" of the Gothizzar Harvester and more than 9" from all enemy units.
You can even reconstruct your Mortisan Ossifector from the unfortunates ground up by the Gothizzar Harvester (don’t forget that Bone Harvest passive), providing access to the unique Soul Tax spell. Cities of Sigmar, Daughters of Khaine, Fyreslayers, Flesh-eater Courts, Gloomspite Gitz, Kharadron Overlords, Kruleboyz, Ogor Mawtribes, Skaven, Sons of Behemat and Soulblight Gravelords armies who aren’t picky about what happens to their fallen can bring them along to battle.
The Squires of the Everchosen
A favourite here in the Age of Sigmar team, the Squires of the Everchosen are a delegation of Flesh-eater Courts who follow a Varghulf Courtier who believes that they are a member of the Varanguard. They are now on A Deluded Quest, which they perceive as a personal mission from Archaon himself.
A Deluded Quest
Once Per Battle, Deployment Phase
The deluded Squires of the Everchosen think they have been sent on a personal mission by Archaon.
Declare: Pick an enemy unit to be the target.
Effect: The target has the Enemy of the Everchosen keyword.
A Quest Well Done
Once Per Battle (Army), End of Any Turn
To excel in the Everchosen’s eyes brings Utgar and his followers a fleeting glee.
Effect: If the enemy Enemy of the Everchosen unit is destroyed by a unit in this Regiment of Renown, add 10 to the control score of each unit in this Regiment of Renown for the rest of the battle.
Amusingly, this sometimes manifests as belief in the ranks that the Grand Marshall of the Apocalypse himself is the enemy. Once they emerge victorious, they are given a huge Control Score boost as they revel in their triumph. These merry knights will happily go a-questing for the Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Hedonites of Slaanesh and Slaves to Darkness.
Snerk’s Trogg-Fer-Hire
Snerk Mooneata has got on board with the mercenary business, but he doesn't want to risk his own head in the fight. Instead, he sends a lumbering Dankhold Troggoth in to do his dirty work, and when the Troggoth inevitably gets bored and wanders in the wrong direction, Snerk makes sure to give him a good jab back. In battle, this gives the Troggoth some movement tricks – Go Dat Way allows it to get to places the enemy may not have been expecting…
Go Dat Way!
Your Charge Phase
Snerk makes sure to give his troggoth mate a jab if they get distracted. Which they do. Often.
Declare: Pick the Dankhold Troggoth in this Regiment of Renown to be the target if it is within 12" of the Loonboss in this Regiment of Renown.
Effect: For the rest of the turn, the target can still use Charge abilities even if it used a Retreat ability in the same turn.
Snerk can shield himself with his lumbering charge. This enterprising duo can be taken by Beasts of Chaos, Blades of Khorne, Bonesplitterz, Cities of Sigmar, Daughters of Khaine, Disciples of Tzeentch, Hedonites of Slaanesh, Idoneth Deepkin, Ironjawz, Kruleboyz, Lumineth Realm-lords, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ogor Mawtribes, Ossiarch Bonereapers, Seraphon, Skaven, Slaves to Darkness, Soulblight Gravelords and Stormcast Eternals. Almost everyone loves a Troggoth!
Stumblefoot Gargant
Finally, the Stumblefoot Gargant is here to bring some Christmas merriment to all the armies of the Mortal Realms. That is until someone looks at him funny. His unique inebriated Rampages, like Projectile Vomit and Bellowing Mockery, introduce some unexpected new tricks.
Projectile Vomit
Once Per Turn (Army), Any Shooting Phase
Better out than in, as they say…
Declare: Pick this unit to use this ability if it has not used a Rampage ability this turn. Then, pick a point on the battlefield within 6" of this unit and pick all other units (friendly and enemy) within 3" of that point to be the targets.
Effect: Roll a D3 for each target. On a 2+, inflict an amount of mortal damage on that target equal to the roll.
Keywords: Rampage
Bellowing Mockery
Once Per Turn (Army), Any Combat Phase
Drunken gargants often holler incoherent insults to aggravate and taunt.
Declare: Pick this unit to use this ability if it has not used a Rampage ability this turn, then pick an enemy unit within this unit’s combat range to be the target.
Effect: Roll a dice. On a 3+, subtract 1 from hit rolls for the target’s attacks for the rest of the turn.
Keywords: Rampage
This staggering gargant can wobble his way into any army in Warhammer Age of Sigmar, except for the Sons of Behemat – they’ve already got their own fair share of blind-drunk belligerents thank you very much.
You can download all eight Regiments of Renown below – and that’s not all for Warhammer Age of Sigmar this year. Check back on Friday for a new miniature reveal.
