Warhammer Age of Sigmar received its latest Battlescroll update last month, which contained enough tweaks and changes to make Tzeentch proud. As tournaments continue apace, Warhammer TV presenter Lewis spoke to Matt from the Warhammer Studio about the trends in the current win rates.
With the Battlescroll barely in the rearview mirror, the majority of the available data is from before its release. The majority of factions in the game are sitting within the 45-55% target win rate, with a few outliers that are being monitored.
The Cities of Sigmar have just started to feel the impact of their changes, and the Warhammer Studio is keeping tabs on their performance as more data comes in. However we can see how the new Battletome: Flesh-eater Courts is performing very favourably – perhaps those chivalric ghouls have been emboldened by the return of Ushoran?
The Ossiarch Bonereapers and Blades of Khorne are also among the top-performing factions, though the former notably struggle to take podium positions at larger events. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Skaven have had a resurgence, with players really digging into strategies available to these devious ratmen – who are one of the best-performing factions at five-game events. Ironjawz, Kruleboyz, Sylvaneth, Coalesced Seraphon, and Slaves to Darkness are all slightly trailing, so the studio have them earmarked for possible future changes.
It isn’t just external balance that the team is concerned with. Internal balance is important for the health of the game, and while most factions use the majority of their warscrolls, larger books like Cities of Sigmar, Stormcast Eternals, Slaves to Darkness, Seraphon, and Soulblight Gravelords are all targets for future tweaks to try and expand the inclusion rate of less common warscrolls for these factions.
Universal Spells, Endless Spells, and Enhancements are also all carefully monitored – currently, the three choices outside the target of 10% inclusion are Arcane Tome, Merciless Blizzard, and Hoarfrost. Admittedly this is expected from the final two as they are featured in the current General’s Handbook.
The Nullstone Cache is the latest Battlescroll update, and you can read a brief analysis of all the changes made to it right here. Our thanks go to Stats and Ladders for their support with the data.
