Golden Demon is the world's greatest painting competition, and its reach is truly global – winners have risen from the four corners of the Earth. That’s why this year, the European round is being held at one of the world’s biggest gaming festivals in Germany.
Taking place during the massive SPIEL Essen – also known as the Essen Game Fair – this is the second leg of Golden Demon this year. The first round will be hosted at AdeptiCon in the USA in March.
SPIEL is on the 3rd of October, so if you haven’t started yet, check out our season announcement for some inspiration from previous winners. And speaking of entries, there’s a new category to add to the list.
The upcoming launch of Warhammer: The Old World is bringing more spectacular miniatures back into the fold, and we just know you’re eager to watch a Necrolith Bone Dragon stomp all over the competition (metaphorically). Accordingly, a new The Old World category has been added to the roster for both Adepticon and SPIEL, for everything from the smallest peasant bowman to the mightiest giant.
A couple of major changes this year open up the competition to even more painters and players than before. Unit categories for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar now include Kill Team and Warcry warbands respectively, while Vehicles and Large Models are grouped together to make room for new categories for Necromunda, Blood Bowl, and epic-scale miniatures from Legions Imperialis, Adeptus Titanicus, and Aeronautica Imperialis.
To keep everything above board in a competition as prestigious as Golden Demon, there are a few Terms and Conditions to be aware of, so please give them a look below and remember – by entering your model, you accept it all from start to finish. No funny business.
