Behold a cornucopia of Chaos colour schemes from Vincent Knotley

We’ve had four Chaos Codexes out in quick succession this year, hot on the heels of Index: Chaos Daemons

The ever-prolific Vincent Knotley has turned his Contrast expertise to troops and champions from all four Chaos Space Marine factions, earning the favour of the Dark Gods and their exalted champions at Warhammer Community.

First up are the Death Guard – who don’t have to be green, you know. They can also be taupe, mauve, chartreuse or otherwise. And despite their obvious trappings of rot, viscera, effluence and general ick, they can, as Knotley ably demonstrates, be quite crisp indeed.

The dusty dudes of the Thousand Sons are not known for their all-round individuality, but even they sometimes veer away from classic electric blue and gold. Sometimes that means indigo and gold, but sometimes they might even hark back to the era of the Great Crusade with a nice strident red or something even less standard, according to the whims of their local sorcerer…

The Emperor’s Children, on the other hand, can be any colour they please. Are the miniatures below two combat squads of five Infractors and Tormentors, or 10 individuals from separate warbands? Yes!

For the World Eaters, anger doesn’t have to connote sloppiness. Besides, not all blood is red, and these Berzerkers are just as likely to have found some unfortunate green-blooded species to massacre on their skull-collecting sojourns.

Of course, not all warriors of Chaos need be pledged to one particular god or another – some are simply content to let daemons entwine their souls* and warp their bodies. No two of these Possessed are quite alike, and accordingly they come in all kinds of garish colours befitting the warp entity inside.

Thanks again, Knotley – we’ll see you again when we need another three dozen models painted in glorious technicolour. If you’re getting your own Warp on, make sure to show us your paint projects on Facebook and Instagram, and show the corpse-worshippers how it’s done.
