The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is now well and truly out of the gate. We’ve covered the Space Marines and Tyranids painted by people in advance of the release of Leviathan, and more Astartes and scuttling horrors from the people who work on this very site.
Last week, the mysterious robed tech-priests who service the machine-god of the Social Media algorithm plucked the best Space Marines they could find from followers of the official Warhammer Twitter and Facebook pages, and today it’s the turn for the Tyranids. Spoiler – people really like the Neurotyrant.
Speaking of which, @Kurishi is first up with a malevolent Neurotyrant and its little Neuroloids. The dark green carapace, toxic green brain matter, and pallid flesh all work creepily well together.
The Screamer-Killer is another favourite, and @Fluffhammer has painted theirs up in the classic red and blue of Hive Fleet Behemoth. We dread to think how long it took to add the striations and highlights to all of those armoured plates.
Jordan Fraser from Facebook contributed a superbly sinister Neurotyrant with intimidating red brain-matter.
The ’Eavy Metal team provided a range of new recipes for the Tyranids in our interview, as you can see these extra-galactic biomass hunters are all the colours of the rainbow. @FrothingMuppet has leaned on the classics with his Termagant, which is painted up to match the colour scheme from the Third Edition Codex cover.
Next up is @Jfdubeau whose cerulean blue Psychophage and Neurotyrant contrast wonderfully with the khaki skin and noxious glossy green bases.
Finally, @SpensPainting provides a particularly grimy and gross take on a Neurotyrant that is a little more grounded and fleshy than usual. This rendition really nails the evolutionary body horror present in the Hive Mind’s envoys.
Thanks to everyone. A range of new starter sets for Warhammer 40,000 are available to pre-order on Saturday, and if you’re very lucky you might be able to find one of the last available copies of the packed Leviathan box set at your local Warhammer store or independent stockist.
