Beneath the carnivorous Gnarlwood, the living roots of vast gnarloaks extend far below the surface. In this suffocating gloom beneath the earth, wood becomes flesh, pools of digestive acid await unwary adventurers, and hideous carrion critters scuttle in the shadows.
Further down still, beyond suppurating walls of meat, steep inclines lead to the Wyrdhollow, the next setting for Warhammer Underworlds. This knotted nightmare is a tangle of titanic roots suspended above the throat of Ghur itself, creating networks of caves and superstructures that could house entire settlements, and are the resting place of many powerful relics.
Only the most determined warbands will venture this deep, risking their lives to quest for treasures beyond imagination. Even portions of the Eye of Chotec have been swallowed by the Gnarlwood, its realmshaper engines leaking their world-shifting power and suffusing the Wyrdhollow with arcane energy. These terraforming engines threaten disaster – either the realm fails to digest them, and chokes itself to death, or it consumes them and vomits forth a wave of raw transformative energy. The ensuing explosion of the power of the Old Ones mixed with Ghur’s rage would create a cataclysmic eruption of bestial change, stoking the realm’s fury beyond reason.
Neither outcome is desirable, but even with these apocalyptic dangers, entering the Wyrdhollow is a tempting prospect for many brave questors. Domitan’s Stormcoven have been drawn to the Wyrdhollow in search of powerful relics to aid them in the war against Chaos and to stop the brewing apocalypse deep within the root-halls.
These three Knights-Arcanum each represent an aspect of their sovereign – the calm and collected Domitan represents Sigmar as God-King, Sarpon the Cyclone is Sigmar the furious warrior, and Leona Stratosi is Sigmar as an elemental avatar, a master of summoning storms.
They must face Ephilim and their daemonspawn minions. Once a servant of the Gaunt Summoner known as the Eater of Tomes, whose Silver Tower was laid low in Chamon by the Seraphon,* Ephilim fortuitously escaped with their hand-selected menagerie of mutated creatures.
Undertaking labyrinthine duties that confuse even fellow masters of manipulation, Ephilim has set to work unlocking the transmogrifying power imprisoned in the Wyrdhollow. Aided by the cohort of daemons known as the Pandaemonium, their ultimate goal is to turn the bowels of the Gnarlwood into a roiling crucible of chaotic creation.
You’ll soon be able to fight to avert the apocalypse or unleash change on the twisted innards of Ghur when Warhammer Underworlds: Wyrdhollow is released. Sign up for the Warhammer Community newsletter to find out when you can pre-order it.
