Millions of you have been fighting back against the Tyranid menace engulfing Kadaku since the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, and now a new bioform is set to enter the fray as the Datavault Update lands today. This is the third major content patch for the game, introducing a new PvP map, a new enemy for Operations mode, new cosmetics, and much more.
The headline release in this update is the Datavault, a new information archive on your Battle Barge that collates research data as you fell ever more enemies of the Imperium and complete special challenges called Ordeals. This research data can then be traded for Requisition Points and new cosmetic unlocks like pauldron sigils, weapon skins, and armour pieces.
Speaking of cosmetics, Season Pass players are in for a treat. The next Champion Pack is also part of this update, featuring a suit of finely wrought armour fresh from the forges of Nocturne. The pack includes a unique Salamanders skin for the Sniper class and bolt sniper rifle weapon, rippling with drake hide details and all sorts of accessories true sons of Vulkan will recognise from the Salamanders Primaris Upgrades and Transfers set.
Alongside this emerald masterwork comes a full Cosmetic Pack for the silent and secretive Raven Guard, including over 40 cosmetic enhancements from themed armour pieces and Successor Chapter badges to the iconic ‘beakie’ MkVI Corvus-pattern helmet.
The lethal walking artillery beast known as the Biovore invades the Operations mode in all missions that feature the Tyranids, taking its place alongside other Majoris enemies like the Tyranid Warrior. If you fancy a challenge while tackling them and their monstrous firepower, a new difficulty has opened up at the top of the mountain for seasoned veterans – aptly named Absolute.
Absolute difficulty is the ultimate challenge of your xenos-stomping, Chaos-busting skills, so get yourself a pair of dependable battle brothers and see if you can survive its trials.
Finally, the Eternal War PvP mode descends to the depths of a Necron temple complex in the new Tomb map, filled with ominous obelisks and the remains of a long-lost excavation attempt. This strange mixture of Imperial and Necron architecture is quite unlike any of the stages seen so far, giving the neverending clash between Imperial and Chaos Space Marines a strange and mysterious atmosphere.
