The innumerable tomes that make up the Black Library are filled with memorable clashes between legendary characters from the worlds of Warhammer. Who could forget the meeting of minds when Fabius Bile faced Belisarius Cawl in Genefather, the grim reunion between Gotrek and Thanquol in Realmslayer or the verbal (and also very physical) sparring of Trazyn and Orikan in The Infinite and the Divine?
There are many more as yet untold meetups between characters to come – what could happen were Archaon to encounter Kragnos on the field of battle? Beyond tabletop grudge matches, there was no way of knowing, until now…
Black Library is once again inviting open submissions for a short window between the 22nd of February and the 9th of March. This time they want a short scene featuring two characters either from Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar. It could be a duel, a conversation, or anything else you can imagine; and if you impress their discerning editors, you may even be invited to formally pitch.
Naturally, as with any submission process, there are a few rules.
Entries must be in English
The scene must not exceed 500 words
Your scene must only feature the two characters you have chosen
Both characters must have had a miniature made by Games Workshop at some point
No crossovers: both characters must be from the same universe
The scene must take place in one of the following settings: Vigilus, Commorragh, or Armageddon (Warhammer 40,000), and Hammerhal Aqsha, the Eightpoints, or Shadespire (Warhammer Age of Sigmar)
There is to be only one entry per person, so make it a good one!
This is your chance to really let your creative juices flow. Black Library is on the lookout for clever character pairings, and writing that portrays these characters authentically. As ever, terms and conditions apply.
