The first Kill Team quarterly update sets the stage for future adjustments

The new edition of Kill Team has been out for a few weeks now, with thousands of games played and loads of community feedback coming in about the streamlined rules, kill teams, and new mission packs. As you may remember from when the game was first announced, the Kill Team designers are committed to giving it a firm balance pass every three months, and as we’re rapidly approaching the first milestone it’s time to take a look at November’s quarterly update.

In this first update to the core game, the changes are relatively minor and focus more on smoothing out the general game experience ahead of this month’s major tournaments – the World Championships of Warhammer being chief among them. This is a vital step in constructing the next quarterly update, giving time for battle data to roll in and the playtesting of new rules updates to begin.

But that’s not all – if you’re looking for new challenges, a series of brand new missions using the Joint Ops rules is also available for download. Like other Joint Ops, the Deadly Sniper mission pack pits one or two players against a horde of NPOs – Non-Player Operatives – whose actions are controlled by a tight set of behaviours that dictate where they move and when they attack.

The twist is that this pack introduces – you guessed it – a lethal marksman sitting high up in the ruins of Volkus, whose mastery of stealth and silent assassination make them a troublesome target to overcome. Three sequential missions tell the story of your operatives’ battle against this expert sniper, and culminate in a deadly standoff at their last bastion.

Check back with us in a few months’ time for the latest balance adjustments to Kill Team.
