The Warhammer Studio has now collected enough data from tournaments and matched play games around the world to assess the impact of the most recent Balance Dataslate on the state of the game.
Stu Black, who heads up the Warhammer 40,000 team, takes the helm for today’s episode. He sat down with Mike Brandt to discuss how these recent changes affected events like the recent Kansas City Open. Regular readers of MetaWatch will know Mike as Games Workshop’s Global Head of Events, and before that the founder of the NOVA Open event and a longstanding member of the playtest team.
In a wide-ranging discussion, two of the people responsible for the shape of the modern game touch upon the impact of the dataslate on player behaviour, the global event scene, the most recent tournaments, and the upcoming US Open Grand Narrative Finale.
Remember, the 2022 tournament calendar comes to an explosive climax in the USA this weekend, at the US Open Grand Narrative Finale in New Mexico. Champions and finalists from the rest of the US Open Series will be battling it out to be crowned Best General and Best Overall in a series of top-tier clashes between the best players in the world.
We’ll be streaming all the action from Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and much more besides on the Warhammer Twitch channel.
