Just last week we revealed an awesome collection of new Mechanicum miniatures coming to the battlefields of Legions Imperialis, and there are whispers of even more striding from their overworked forges.
The huge Mechanicum Battle Group will be accompanied by a brand new campaign book for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis, covering the Schism of Mars and more. We’ve got an exclusive look at the cover right here… but wait… what’s that… towering abomination of steel and scrapcode?
Rise of the Dark Mechanicum is the next book for Legions Imperialis, and it contains army lists for both the Mechanicum Taghmata and the Dark Mechanicum, as well as Formations for dedicated armies of Collegia Titanica and Questoris Familia.
It’s your first in-depth look at the abominable war machines developed and deployed by the Dark Mechanicum during the Horus Heresy – including the Serperos ‘Overlord’ Heavy Stalker featured on the cover. Striding above the battlefield on stilt-like legs, the Serperos was designed as a siegebreaker.
They are equipped with devastating weaponry like the aether-powered exo-planar bombard, which reduces infantry and vehicles alike to molten waste, or the shield-stripping storm laser array which makes short work of void shields. Some are equipped with a complement of writhing underslung lascutters for cutting open reinforced armour, while others are mounted with irradiation engines that clear fortifications of their inhabitants with pulses of deadly energy.
The Serperos is just one of the many accursed engines of war that the Dark Mechanicum concocted during the Horus Heresy, and we’ll lift the rusted metallic veil from the rest in due course. Rise of the Dark Mechanicum also covers the Doom of Magma City, alongside a new Escalation Campaign that allows you to link battles over a series of conflicts which end with a final, epic Grand Clash.
We’ll have more coverage from the book, and the units within it, in the not so distant future. Head back to the Warhammer Day Preview hub below to check the rest of today’s reveals.
